The formula, explained

Percentage ÷ 100 × number

A percentage is a fraction out of 100. For example, 15% of 240 is 36. Use the mode selector to find the part, the percentage or the original whole without rearranging the formula yourself.

Example inputs: percentage 15; number 240. Result: 36 .

What to check before using the result

Percentages and percentage points are different. A conversion rate moving from 2% to 3% rises by one percentage point, or 50% relative to its original value.
