A SIMPLE GOOGLE ANALYTICS ALTERNATIVE

Spend less time finding the report.

If your everyday questions are “How many visitors?”, “Which pages?” and “Where from?”, start with a simpler dashboard. Visitor Tracking brings those answers together with cookieless measurement.

Unlimited websites and pages in beta. No credit card.

A comfortable place for everyday website questions.

01

An understandable overview.

Open a website and see your key traffic numbers. Explore pages, sources and countries from the same starting point.

02

Detail when you need it.

Combine filters, compare periods and inspect your campaigns or custom events. Start with a question, then narrow the view.

03

An easy beta to try.

Create an account without a credit card. Add your websites and compare a fresh period of data before changing your existing workflow.

Choose around the decisions you make.

A personal site, a publication or a small product often needs a straightforward view of its audience. If that is your routine, visitors, pages, referrers and campaign labels may be enough to make better decisions without maintaining a complicated reporting setup.

If your existing workflow depends on Google-specific advertising integrations, modelled reporting or a particular event specification, assess those requirements separately before switching. Visitor Tracking is a simpler analytics option, not a promise of feature-for-feature replacement.

Know what “cookieless” means in the comparison.

Our standard tag does not set tracking cookies or persist a visitor ID in the browser. It uses a rotating server-side identifier to estimate visitors and records pageviews for the reports you see.

Google also supports cookieless pings in advanced consent mode when consent is denied. The collection and modelling approach differs, so “Google cannot work without cookies” would be an inaccurate comparison. Review the actual configuration and applicable requirements for either choice.

Try a measured switch, with a clear comparison.

Add Visitor Tracking to the same pages as your existing setup and collect a new period together. Keep the same consent choices where required. Use identical dates, timezones and filters, then compare pageviews before comparing differently defined visitor or visit metrics.

Your previous Google Analytics history is not imported automatically. Keep access to the old reports you need, record when the new installation began, and verify your important actions before depending on the new reports. A small, repeatable test is more useful than expecting two dashboard totals to match exactly.

A few useful answers.

Is this a complete GA4 replacement?
It depends on your requirements. Visitor Tracking covers website traffic, sources, campaigns, filters and custom events. Check any specialised advertising, attribution or reporting workflow separately.
Can I run both tools while evaluating?
Yes, provided the installation and consent choices are appropriate for your site. Keep one copy of each tag and compare the same pages and period. Historical data is not backfilled.
Is Visitor Tracking part of Umami?
No. It is an independent service built on Umami’s MIT-licensed open-source engine. It is not operated by or affiliated with Umami Cloud.
