Go from the big picture to the useful detail.

01

Find your most useful pages.

See which pages receive visitors and views, then compare periods to understand whether a launch or content update changed the traffic.

02

Follow your sources.

Review referrers and UTM campaigns. Find out which links bring people to your site and where the source is unknown.

03

Look at the right audience.

Combine filters for country, browser, device, page and campaign. Use All or Any conditions and exclude traffic that is not relevant to your question.

A CLOSER LOOK / 01

A dashboard for the website you actually own.

Visitor Tracking measures events received from the tag installed on your website. It is designed for people who can add that tag: site owners, developers and teams looking after their own sites. It does not estimate traffic to an unrelated competitor’s domain.

Once installed, the dashboard gives you a shared starting point: how much activity arrived, which pages attracted it, and which sources or campaigns were recorded. You can explore the relevant audience without building a custom report for every question.

A CLOSER LOOK / 02

Audience patterns, without a named visitor list.

The standard tag does not reveal names or email addresses. It measures pageviews and groups activity using anonymous identifiers, with approximate location and browser information for context.

That makes it useful for understanding a website’s audience without assuming every visit represents a known person. If you need enquiries or customer conversations, use your site’s forms and account workflows deliberately. Avoid sending their personal details to analytics through URLs or event properties.

What can you actually learn about a visitor? ↗
A CLOSER LOOK / 03

From a campaign link to a clearer result.

Label an incoming link with a source, medium and campaign name before sharing it. A newsletter can then have its own campaign view instead of being mixed into unknown traffic. Our free UTM builder helps create a consistent link without an account.

When the visitors arrive, filter the campaign and examine the pages and relevant events. Remember that link clicks and recorded website visits are different measurements: automated checks, repeat clicks and blocked requests can make their totals differ.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

A few useful answers.

Do I add every page individually?+
No. Register the website once and put its generated tag in the shared header. Every page that loads the tag is covered. Use a separate website and tag for each distinct site you want to report on.
Can I see a visitor’s name or email address?+
Not from the standard tag. This is audience analytics, not a visitor identification or lead-enrichment service.
Will every visit be recorded?+
No browser-based analytics tool can guarantee that. The tag must load and the collection request must arrive. Blocking, network failures and installation gaps can all affect coverage.

Get comfortable with the details.
