How to use this tool

Paste your original and updated text. One side may be empty to review a complete addition or deletion.
Choose word or line highlighting, then select Compare texts.
Review the changes, reveal whitespace if useful, and copy or download the unified diff.

How it works

This tool uses the Myers diff algorithm through jsdiff. Line mode compares complete lines. Word mode highlights words, punctuation and whitespace separately. Case, spaces and tabs count as changes; line endings are normalised to LF before comparison. A replaced line contributes one removed and one added line to the totals. The downloadable patch compares the same normalised text and includes three lines of surrounding context.

What to check before using the result

Use plain text, not PDF or Word documents. This is a revision comparison, not a plagiarism, meaning or correctness check. Each side allows 50,000 characters and 1,000 lines; some symbols count as two characters. Very different texts can hit the calculation limit: switch to line mode or compare a smaller section. The tool never silently shortens your input.

Can I compare code as well as ordinary text?

Yes. Paste source code, configuration, an article draft or another plain-text revision. The comparison treats code as text; it does not parse the language or prove that the updated code works.

Will the checker find spaces, tabs and capital-letter changes?

Yes. Those differences count. Turn on Show whitespace to reveal spaces, tabs and line breaks in the preview. Windows and Unix line endings are normalised to LF, so that difference alone does not create a change.

Can I download the changes without creating an account?

Yes. Open Copy or download a unified diff after comparing. Download comparison.patch or copy its contents. The export contains your normalised text and changes; the public tool link does not include them.

Are my files, text or numbers uploaded?

No. This tool processes the input in your browser tab. It does not send your input to our servers. Leaving or refreshing the page clears the working input.

Do I need an account or subscription?

No account is required for this public tool. You can complete the task and download the result directly. An account is useful when you want to measure visits to your own website or manage tracked campaign links.

Can I share or link to this tool?

Yes. Use the tool link below in a tutorial, team resource list or campaign checklist. The link opens an empty tool; your private input is not included.
