Free CPM calculator — cost per thousand impressions

Put a cost on being seen.

Calculate how much a campaign costs per thousand impressions. Enter spend and impressions from the same campaign and reporting period.

Calculated locally. Your numbers are not uploaded.
THE FORMULA

Campaign spend ÷ impressions × 1,000

For example, campaign spend of 500 and impressions of 100,000 give a result of 5 per 1,000 impressions.

Keep the scope and reporting period consistent. Zero in the first field is valid; a zero denominator has no defined rate, so the calculator asks for a total greater than zero.

Make the number useful.

If you spend 500 units of currency for 100,000 impressions, CPM is 5 in that same currency. An impression is a reported display of the ad or content; it is not necessarily a unique person, a click or a website visit.

Compare like formats, audiences and reporting definitions. A cheaper thousand impressions can still produce fewer useful visits. Use click-through rate and the behaviour of arriving visitors alongside cost when reviewing a campaign.

This calculator divides the totals you enter. It does not forecast auction prices or recommend a bid. Tag campaign links consistently and check the resulting website traffic to connect reach with the activity that matters to your site.
